The world has slipped on this tragedy
A terrible tragedy, that didn't leave TV screens for the whole week, happened in the American town of Lake Placid. The heart of two-time Olympic and many-times European and World champion in figure skating - Sergei Grinkov - has stopped. He died right on the ice during a practice with his partner and wife Ekaterina Gordeeva for the Stars on Ice show.
Doctors found that during the last 24 hours of Grinkov's life, he suffered of one more milder heart attack. Death came as a result of a massive heart attack that was caused by a disease of the cardiovascular system.
Tatiana Tarasova, who trained Gordeeva and Grinkov after their first Olympic win in Calgary, didn't say much to the "Ogonyok's" correspondent during a telephone conversation:
He was kind. And good-natured. I love him. Loved him...
On February 4 Serezha would have celebrated his 29-th birthday with his wife Ekaterina and 3-year-old daughter Dasha.
